Marina and Black Marble Chess Set - 12" Staunton Style Board

Immerse yourself in the world of opulence with our Marina and Black Marble Chess Set – a testament to meticulous craftsmanship and timeless elegance. Crafted from hand-carved marble, each square on the 12" board is a unique masterpiece, making every game a visually captivating experience.

The black and marina marble combination creates a pure, authentic look reminiscent of the original Staunton-style chess sets from London. The black marble seamlessly extends into the border, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the set. The pieces, designed with a perfect blend of simplicity and elegance, add a touch of sophistication to the gameplay. The 12" wide board provides ample space for strategic moves, while the 3" tall king stands as a symbol of regality.

To ensure a scratch-free and luxurious playing experience, both the chess pieces and board come with padded, felt bottoms. Delivered in a blue velvet case, each piece is securely held, adding to the regal presentation of this set.

Chess Origins:

Delve into the rich history of chess, originating in northwest India in the 6th century as chaturaṅga, meaning four divisions. This early form included the infantry, cavalry, elephants, and chariotry, evolving into the modern pawn, knight, bishop, and rook. The game journeyed along the Silk Road, reaching Western Europe and Russia by the 9th century. By the year 1000, chess had spread throughout both Muslim Iberia and Latin Europe. Chaturaṅga was embraced by the Muslim world after the conquest of Persia, where it was renamed. The term "checkmate" is derived from the Persian shāh māt, meaning "the king is helpless." Around 1200, the rules of shatranj started to be modified in southern Europe, and around 1475, several major changes shaped the game into its present form.

Elevate your chess experience with our Marina and Black Marble Chess Set – where every move is a journey into a world of unrivaled craftsmanship and sophistication.
